The drawing and painting classes are designed to help the student master lighting and form. Understanding the way light falls over an object and creates shadow and depth is an excellent basis for beautiful still life pictures and portraits. These projects can be done with pencil, charcoal, or monochromatic oil paint. We use real objects set up in my atelier under controlled lighting. Moving on, we learn how to create portraits by drawing a plaster cast of a face in charcoal under natural lighting. This exercise can also be done in oil paints. With this basis, the student can then learn portrait painting using the colour pallet from Van Dyck. The same skills can also be applied to still life painting, where you can bring your own objects that you choose to paint.
Beginners or advanced artists are welcome!
